Each year, members of Margate Civic Society nominate properties which, in their view, have contributed most to the built environment within the Society’s area of interest. These can be new or refurbished properties. A panel of judges from the Society look at each nomination and decide which are the most worthy to receive a coveted Town Pride Award and become entitled to display a commemorative plaque on the building. This year, we had eleven nominations. The number of nominations received indicates a growing awareness amongst the Society’s members of the major contribution that both renovation of often run-down properties and the erection of well-designed new properties make to the overall attractiveness of our town.
