Thursday 19th March
Mr Margate, Mick Tomlinson, telling about "My Life at Dreamland".

Thursday 16th April
"Who was Mrs Allen? The woman who kissed the hand of the Duke of Wellington as he died." A talk by Jenny Wall, English Heritage Volunteer and Guide.

Thursday 21st May
The presentation of Town Pride Awards, followed by complimentary wine, tea or coffee.

Thursday 18th June
"My Life as a Head Gardener", by Paul Twyman, Head Gardener at Yoakley House and former Head Gardener at Hever Castle.

Thursday 16th July
A double bill from favourites Ian and Val Carter-Chapman. Margate-born Ian, accompanied by his mother Val, will be telling us about "Canterbury's Forgotten Theatres" and "Cinema on Sea".

No meeting in August

Thursday 17th September
"Dane Valley Woods and Wild Areas of our Parks", by Andrew Nolan, Volunteer Tree Warden of the Kent Tree and Pond Warden Partnership.

Thursday 15th October
Our Annual General Meeting, followed by a talk "My Life in the Theatre and Entertainment Part 2 - The Revenge!" by Gordon Clarkson. Gordon is a very well-known Margate entertainer, producer, actor and public speaker.

Tuesday 8th December
A members' Christmas event, comprising a two-course lunch followed by tea and coffee with mints. This will be held at the Racing Greyhound PH. Further details are on this website's home page.

All evening meetings start at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall, St Mary's Avenue, Margate CT9 3TN.

Following the October meeting, we break until March the following year, with meetings then each month until October (except August).

Meetings are FREE to members. There is a charge of £3.50 for visitors except where shown otherwise. Refreshments and merchandise will be on sale at all meetings.

The programme of talks for the 2017/18 winter season is as follows.

5th October 2017
Annual General Meeting followed by a talk on “The Secret Gardens of Sandwich” by Steve Edney (Head Gardener)

2nd November 2017
“The Vikings are Coming”, a talk by Imogen Corrigan, Lecturer on Anglo-Saxon & Medieval History of Art.

14th December 2017
Our Christmas social evening, including films, our Christmas raffle, our quiz and refreshments. Guests £3.50.

1st February 2018
A big welcome back to Dr Steve Alexander with another talk about his father’s marvellous paintings, this time those on a Mediterranean theme.

1st March 2018
Rod LeGear MCIfA, Vice President, Kent Archaeological Society, Chairman, Kent Underground Research Group giving a talk entitled "Margate Caves and Thanet's Underground Heritage".

5th April 2018
“Public Timekeeping on the Isle of Thanet” by another of our favourite speakers, Mike Bundock.

10th May 2018
Presentation of the Town Pride awards. Guests £3.50.

Annual General Meeting followed by “The Bungalow Story” by Andrew Brown PhD BA MCHA, Planning Director of Southeast Planning Group, Historic England. This is subject to confirmation.

1st November 2018
“Time to Thank Them” by John Drewry, Patron of the Nursing Memorial Appeal.

Our December 2018 (on Thursday 13th) meeting with be a special occasion to mark our 50th anniversary.
