Margate Civic Society
"The love of our town leads us"
Christopher Alexander ARE ARCA
Christopher Alexander was born in Margate in 1926 and after the war won a place at the Royal College of Art.  He taught initially at the Thanet School of Art and later at Canterbury College of Art, while at the same time producing a huge amount of drawings and paintings.  He died suddenly in 1982.

Margate Civic Society has been fortunate enough to have had three presentations about this very talented Margate man by his son, Dr Steven Alexander.  Steven has produced a fine book about his father and his work, which we are pleased to sell on Steven’s behalf.

The book contains 142 pages with very many illustrations in full colour.  It retails at £29.99 but we are pleased to offer it for £25.00 plus p&p.  To purchase a copy, please email us at enquiries@margatecivicsociety.org.uk.

Christopher Alexander drew a wide variety of subjects, from landscapes and townscapes to figure painting, and in all media, from pencil to oils.  We include just a few samples below to whet your appetite to see more from this exceptional local artist, of whom we are very proud.
